VANCOUVER, Canada -- Tomas Tatar made his 200th career point a memorable one.

Tatar scored with 1:14 left in regulation Monday night at Rogers Arena to lift the Detroit Red Wings past the Vancouver Canucks, 3-2, for the Wings' second road in two days.

Darren Helm scored his third goal of the season and Martin Frk was credited for a goal that a Canucks defenseman knocked into his own net.

Daniel Sedin and Michael Del Zotto scored 2:14 apart in the third period to make it a tie game.

Jimmy Howard made 26 saves as the Wings improved to 4-1 in their past five games.

The Wings earned a 1-0 lead less than six minutes into the game when Frans Nielsen fired a shot that Jacob Markstrom stopped, only to have Helm bury the rebound. It was Helm's second goal in four games. It was Nielsen's first assist of the season.

The Wings executed well in the first period, generating scoring chances by funneling pucks to the net. They won 57 percent of face-offs, and limited the Canucks to one shot during a power play. The Wings took a delay of game penalty with seconds to spare after Scott Wilson sent the puck over the glass, giving the Canucks 1:58 with the man advantage to start the second period.

During a power play late in the second period (the penalty was drawn by Helm), Frk took a shot on net that Vancouver defenseman Christopher Tanev knocked the puck into his own net. The Canucks challenged goaltender interference because Henrik Zetterberg was battling away in front of the net, but officials ruled no interference before the puck crossed the goal line at 15:15. Losing the challenge meant the Canucks forfeited their time-out.

Thomas Vanek, who had 38 points in 48 games last season with the Wings before being traded at the deadline, helped the Canucks halve the lead at 7:16 of the third period when he drew two defenders while in the low slot, freeing Sedin to slip the puck behind Howard. Del Zotto made it 2-2 at 9:30 when he finished a nice pass from Bo Horvat.
