Three key Lions leave Monday practice with injuries

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Monday evening’s practice saw a pair of crucial Detroit Lions rookies leave with injuries.
Rookie cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw both departed early portions of practice, with Arnold getting hurt on a one-on-one drill against Amon-Ra St. Brown and Rakestraw appearing to pick up his injury on the same drill, but against Jameson Williams. Second-year running back Jahmyr Gibbs also left practice and is being evaluated for a leg injury.
Arnold left immediately and has an upper-body injury, according to the Lions. Rakestraw, who’s dealing with an ankle injury, tried to fight it off and moved on to team drills. He limped off the field after allowing a reception to Shane Zylstra at the beginning of the first-team period.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Gibbs is dealing with a hamstring injury. He missed two games last season with a hamstring injury as well. It’s unclear when Gibbs sustained his injury Monday.
On the whole, it's been a pretty tough go for the team's health ward.
In addition to quarterback Hendon Hooker, who is dealing with a concussion, the Lions were missing starting offensive guard Kevin Zeitler, who hasn't practiced since last week against the Giants, tight end Sam LaPorta, who missed all of last week with a hamstring, and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, who hasn't practiced since early last week, in addition to several more players missing Monday's practice. Receiver Antoine Green (concussion) was waived with an injury designation to begin the week.
In the last week alone, the Lions have lost defensive end Nate Lynn, offensive tackle Connor Galvin, defensive tackle David Bada and cornerback Emmanuel Moseley to long-term injuries.
Defensive tackle Alim McNeill on Monday missed practice for the second day in a row. Cornerback Carlton Davis III was also out Monday, as were linebackers Malik Jefferson and DaRon Gilbert and safety Morice Norris.
