Trump lies about huge Harris rally crowd being AI-generated
Published in Political News
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump falsely claimed the large crowd that turned out to greet Kamala Harris last week in Detroit was generated by artificial intelligence.
“Has anyone noticed that Kamala CHEATED at the airport?” he wrote on his Truth Social media platform. “There was nobody at the plane, and she “A.I.’d” it, and showed a massive ‘crowd’ of so-called followers, BUT THEY DIDN’T EXIST!”
Numerous images from that Aug. 7 gathering indicate the Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport was teeming with enthusiastic supporters for the Democratic party nominee, who recently pulled ahead of Trump in polling in key swing states including Michigan.
According to Trump, who famously obsesses over crowd sizes and has been known to exaggerate his own, an airport maintenance worker claimed one photo making the rounds didn’t reflect what that person saw on the ground.
“She had NOBODY waiting, and the ‘crowd’ looked like 10,000 people!” Trump continued.
He also said the large crowds showing up at his surging opponent’s speeches weren’t real. There’s no indication Trump’s accusations are factual, though several of his supporters online attempted to back his claim with images they claimed were authentic.
“She should be disqualified because the creation of a fake image is ELECTION INTERFERENCE,” the 78-year-old former reality TV star ranted. “Anyone who does that will cheat at ANYTHING!”
Harris’s campaign posted several photos of a crowded tarmac in Detroit on X to argue her case that roughly 15,000 people were in attendance. They also posted video on Truth Social showing a huge crowd under the caption “Warning: The content of this video may upset @realDonaldTrump.”
Trump famously began his term as president with a modest 2017 inaugural ceremony that his surrogates falsely claimed was the largest ever to witness such an event.
