Biden, Harris to appear this week in Maryland; Walz begins solo campaign swing

BALTIMORE — President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are returning to Maryland — this time together — for an event in Prince George’s County on Thursday.
During the Democrats’ appearance, the two will “deliver remarks on the progress they are making to lower costs for the American people,” according to a release by the vice president’s office. The administration’s Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 allowed Medicare to negotiate with drug corporations over prescription costs and contained other measures to lower drug costs.
It will be their first joint trip since the president announced last month that he would not be seeking a second term.
Harris has been campaigning in swing states with her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Her campaign announced on Monday that Walz will begin appearing solo at Harris-Walz campaign events. Walz will travel Tuesday to Los Angeles and then make stops this week in Colorado, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York.
The Prince George’s County location of Thursday’s visit has not been announced.
Biden and Harris have made several recent trips to Maryland.
The president was on the ground days after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge that killed six construction workers and crippled activity at the Port of Baltimore in March. And Harris appeared in Maryland’s Washington, D.C., suburbs in June to announce her endorsement of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks, who is running against former Gov. Larry Hogan to replace Ben Cardin, a Democrat, upon his retirement at the end of the term.
