Facebook Whistleblower Tells Us What We Knew
A Facebook whistleblower has confirmed what many have long suspected: The social media giant is profiting off anger and division.
That seems like the sort of thing we should all be concerned about because …
AW, CRAM IT, YOU LUNKHEAD!!!
Who is this? And how did you get in my column?
HAH! YOUR TOO DUM TO EVEN GET IT, YOU COMMIE. I’M YOU. OR AT LEAST THE PART OF YOU THAT FACEBOOK’S ALGORITHMS TARGET.
What? How is this possible?
RIDICULOUS QUESTION. YOU ARE SOOOO STOOPID!!!
Oh dear. What I was trying to get across is that we should all be concerned about the way a massive company such as Facebook is manipulating our baser emotions to make money, seeing any human and societal collateral damage as the cost of doing business.
The whistleblower, identified on “60 Minutes” Sunday night as Frances Haugen, said during her interview: “Facebook makes more money when you consume more content. People enjoy engaging with things that elicit an emotional reaction. And the more anger that they get exposed to, the more they interact and the more they consume.”
WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT NONSENSE, YOU DOLT?
