LOS ANGELES -- Two children were killed and dozens of people were injured Saturday during strong storms in eastern Texas, local media reported, citing authorities.
The children, age three and eight, were killed when a tree fell on the car they were traveling in near Pollok, about 161 miles southeast of Dallas, Angelina County Sheriff's Office told broadcaster KLTV.
Sheriff's Captain Alton Lendermen was quoted as saying the children's parents were able to climb out of the vehicle.
Five helicopters were also used to transport 25 people who were injured at a community gathering in Alto, about 18 miles north of Pollok.
The National Weather Service had earlier issued a tornado warning for both towns.
