Celebrity Travel: Go away with Misty Copeland

Jae-Ha Kim, Tribune Content Agency on

A: That the power and beauty of what I get to do for a living is a universal language. It doesn't matter where we travel in the world. You can communicate with people through dance, through that language.

Q: You travel so much for work. Do you still enjoy taking personal trips?

A: I do travel a lot for work, but the first thing I do when I have free time is travel. (Laughs) I love it. I've already been looking at where I am going to go next. I love Asia. I’d love to go to Osaka, anywhere in Japan. Or back to the Maldives. I love to be by the water.

Q: Do you work out when you’re vacationing?

A: It's sad, but I do. Everywhere I go, I find a way to take ballet class. (When my husband and I were in Guadeloupe), I did research and found this tiny ballet studio on this island. It was an hour away from the resort we were staying at. Every day, he drove me so I could give myself a ballet class.

Q: When we last talked, you mentioned how much you loved Puerto Rico. Have you been back?

A: I haven’t had a chance to go back. Mexico is probably one of the only places that I continue to revisit, because it’s always so easy to get to.
