Celebrity Travel: Go away with Amber Nash
A: Ljubljana, Slovenia. It’s a fantastic city and not on anyone’s must hit list. If you like meat in large portions, Slovenia is the place for you. It’s another strikingly beautiful place — lots of trees and canals and very few tourists. A lot of shopping and sightseeing. I bought roasted chestnuts walking through town. There’s also a great gritty side to the city as well — a little like Berlin.
Q: What's the most important thing you've learned from your travels?
A: You must be resilient. Sometimes things suck. Sometimes your flight gets delayed or you miss a train or get stuck somewhere or you can’t communicate with a cab driver because you don’t speak the language and they get mad at you. No matter how much planning you do, you will run into these situations. Not every moment of every trip can be magical but look at it like an adventure.
Q: What are your five favorite cities?
A: New Orleans, San Francisco, Oslo, Hong Kong and Havana.
Q: Where would you like to go that you have never been to before?
A: I have so many places on my list. I really want to go to Japan, Croatia and Iceland.
Q: When you go away, what are some of your must-have items?
A: A steamer. I’m very particular about wrinkles. Also, if you’re gone for a long time in countries that aren’t English speaking, it’s nice to have some shows or movies to watch when traveling or at night in your hotel. Also, comfortable shoes. I’ve made the mistake of packing new shoes and you do so much walking that breaking in a pair of new shoes is a recipe for sore feet.
