Handy appliance eases pressure of cooking dinner

1 1/2 cups (375 mL) diced celery

1 1/2 cups (375 mL) diced carrot

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 cups (500 mL) long-grain brown rice

2 1/4 cups (560 mL) organic, low-sodium chicken broth

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

 

1 pound (500 g) smoked turkey kielbasa sausage, cut into 1/4-inch (12-mm) slices

1 pound (500 g) lean beef steak, such as top sirloin, well trimmed of excess fat and cut into bite-size pieces

1 tablespoon sweet paprika

1 to 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (optional)
