Fat shelter cat's unusual posture leads to viral fame

(UPI) A portly cat up for adoption at a Chicago-area shelter is going viral due to his unusual habit of standing on his back legs to beg for food.
Bruno, a Russian blue cat at the Wright-Way Rescue in Morton Grove, was brought to the shelter in April and went viral during the weekend when the facility posted a video to YouTube showing his unusual begging posture.
The video shows Bruno standing on his hind legs with his belly hanging on the floor.
"This usually happens when I want food," the shelter wrote in the video description. No, my foster parents did not teach me this. They are not sure how I learned.
The shelter said Bruno is on a diet to slim down, as his 25-pound bulk is well over the normal weight of 7-10 pounds for his breed.
Wright-Way Rescue said Bruno is polydactyl, meaning he has more toes than an average cat.
