Dog on tracks interrupts Bay Area transit system

Published in Cats & Dogs News

(UPI) A dog interrupted public transit in California's Bay Area on Thursday morning after running onto the tracks.

San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit system Twitter account shared an update about a dog on the trackway at the Coliseum Station at about 8 a.m.

"We are working to safely get the dog," the BART said. We need to single track until it is clear.

Major delays occurred on the Fremont line as the service worked to track down and capture the elusive dog.

"The dog keeps running off," BART officials said. We are going to run an inspection train at slow speed to see where the dog is and if we can get trains moving.

After about an hour BART announced the dog had been caught and tweeted a photo of the wayward canine alongside a smiling police officer.

"Thank you Sgt. Carter for saving this sweet pup," BART's Twitter account stated. The dog has been taken to Oakland Animal Control. No tags.
