BRUNSWICK, Australia (UPI) -- Firefighters in Australia rescued a kitten that managed to sneak into a washing machine without its owners noticing.

Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade shared a photo of Harry the kitten, who wound up going for a spin inside a family's washing machine.

"We were about to head out and we were looking for Harry and couldn't find him anywhere," his owner Lisa said. That's when I realised I didn't see him when I put the washing on and when I ran into the laundry I could see his face peering out at me through the soapy water.

Lisa quickly contacted the Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade, who arrived at the scene to pry the washing machine open with a crowbar and pull the kitten out to safety.

Harry was taken to the vet after the incident and his family has since taken extra precautions to monitor his potential hiding spots.

"We've since stuck animal stickers on every appliance in the house to make sure we always check Harry is safe before we use them," Lisa said.
