SAG best, worst dressed: Sad Jennifer Lopez, happy Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt

It's just three weeks until the 2020 Academy Awards, arguably Hollywood's biggest celebration of the year. But lots of Hollywood's A-listers turned out Sunday night to walk the red carpet, schmooze and reward one another trophies for acting in films and TV at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, generally regarded as one of the big precursors to the Oscars.

Similar to other splashy awards shows, Sunday night's festivities inspired celebrity members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists to dress to impress. And as is typical of awards shows, some succeeded more than others.

Yes, one of the highlights of the evening involved famous ex-spouses Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston allowing themselves to be photographed backstage, greeting each other with smiles and a hug.

Certainly, both should have been in a celebratory mood. Pitt won a trophy for best supporting actor in the film "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood" and gave a funny and gracious speech addressing his career and his recent personal hardships, which included his divorce from Angelina Jolie. Aniston won for outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series for "The Morning Show."

Jennifer Lopez looked fabulous. That is, fashion-wise in a black, old-school Hollywood glamour off-the-shoulder gown. But she didn't smile all that much and wasn't her usual ebullient red-carpet self, even when walking side-by-side with fiance Alex Rodriguez.

It's understandable she might be feeling less than enthusiastic on the awards circuit right now, given that she suffered a major snub last week when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences failed to nominate her for best supporting actress for "Hustlers." Sigh, she would also lose the SAG Sunday night to Laura Dern for "Marriage Story."
