Conderman was driving south on U.S. Route 251 near Davis Junction when, according to witnesses, a westbound car driven by Alison Seiler, 17, ran a stop sign at Big Mound Road and struck his truck, which then stopped in a field and burst into flames.

He died at the scene of blunt force trauma to his head, the news release said.

Seiler and her two passengers, Carly Koenig and Emily Fleming, both 17, were taken to Rockford hospitals, Seiler and Fleming to Rockford Memorial Hospital, and Koenig to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.

Fleming died at the hospital, also of blunt force trauma to the head, the Winnebago County Coroner's office said.

Koenig was in serious condition Tuesday morning. Seiler was treated and released.

A call to the Ogle County sheriff for further details was not returned.

The three girls were seniors and cheerleaders at Stillman Valley High School, on their way to a football game.

Conderman, a lifelong Amboy resident, graduated from the Morrison Institute of Technology and worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 39 years, retiring in 2010. He then was an engineering consultant for IDOT contractors. He also served 23 years in the Army Reserves, and was a member of the American Legion and the Illinois Central Masonic Lodge of Amboy.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki, and sons Craig, Chris, and Chad of Dixon and Corey of Byron.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.

Visitation also will be held at 10 a.m. and his funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Dixon. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy, with military honors by the Amboy American Legion.
