(UPI) A reptile rescuer in Australia saved a copperhead snake spotted slithering around a parking lot with its head stuck inside a soft drink can.

Sally Wilson of Reptile Rescue Inc. Tasmania posted photos to Facebook showing the lowland copperhead in a sticky situation.

"We humans need to stop littering. All too often we come across snakes with their heads stuck in cans that have been discarded by lazy uncaring people," the post said.

Wilson said the snake may have chased a mouse into the can's opening.

"They often stick their head in looking for water," she told The Mercury newspaper. The strange thing about this one was that it had a mouse in its mouth as well, which is quite odd, and when I cut it free it swallowed it.

"Normally they are so distressed that they can't swallow anything but this one was still quite keen to eat the mouse," Wilson said.

The rescue group posted a video of the copperhead doing well after only a day of recuperation.

"Copperheads are usually very shy, easily stressed and hard to get eating -- this guy however seems very relaxed and completely recovered from his ordeal which is great to see," the Facebook post said.
