Neglected puppies nursed by mother's feline nemesis

(UPI) An Indian pet owner said a litter of puppies neglected by their mother are being nursed by the canine's arch rival -- the family cat.
Mohan Naik, who lives in a village near Belthangady, said she was worried about German shepherd Ruby's puppies when the mother seemed unwilling or unable to feed them.
Naik captured video when her cat, Pinky, unexpectedly stepped in to nurse the pups.
Naik said the cross-species act of generosity was particularly shocking given the strained relationship between Ruby and Pinky. She said the two animals, which are both about 2 years old, have a fierce rivalry and are often found chasing one another.
