Florida woman fleeing Irma wins lottery in North Carolina

(UPI) A Florida woman evacuating from Hurricane Irma has the storm to thank for leading her to a $10,000 lottery jackpot in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Education Lottery said Tiffany Hatfield was evacuating Florida with her family ahead of Hurricane Irma when she bought a $5 Diamond Dazzler scratch-off at a Circle K in Rocky Mount, N.C., while en route to Virginia.
Hatfield, who hails from Ocoee, scratched off her ticket and started screaming when she saw that she had won $10,000, the Charlotte News and Observer reported.
She said the money will go toward repairing her home post-Irma.
