(UPI) A woman's dream of being seated in an empty airplane row quickly turned into a nightmare when a pair of bare feet poked out from the next row.

Jessie Char shared a photo of the empty seats, boasting she was next to her "two favorite people to sit with on a plane," but was quickly met with a horrifying sight when the woman in the row behind her placed her bare feet on the armrests of one of the empty seats.

"Today, I flew on the set of a nightmare," Char wrote alongside a photo of the feet.

Char told NBC New York she left the armrests up and shut the window to take full advantage of the empty row, but began to notice something was awry when one of the armrests fell down.

"At first I assumed it was just a loose hinge, but as I stared at the armrest I noticed a set of toes creeping outwards," she said. By the time I pulled out my phone, a second foot had appeared.

The horror continued as Char said the woman began to wiggle her toes and used the foot to fiddle with the window.

"I watched as one of the feet slowly lifted the window shade up and down again," she said.

Char, who was traveling alone, attempted to make eye contact with a flight attendant, but looked back to find the feet had receded.

"I would have said something but I was in literal shock," she told People. I think I needed another human with me in the moment to reassure me I wasn't just seeing things.

When the flight was over Char managed to get a glimpse at the passenger and said it was a woman who appeared to be about 5 feet 3 inches tall.

Char decided not to tell a flight attendant, instead sharing photo on social media in hopes the viral post would bring about change.

"I just hope this dissuades people from doing it in the future," she said.
