101-year-old woman wins 100-meter sprint as lone competitor

(UPI) A centenarian sprinter added to her collection of gold medals by completing a 100-meter sprint on Monday.
Man Kaur, a 101-year-old sprinter from India, was the lone competitor in the 100-years-and-over category for the 100-meter race during the World Masters Games at the Waitakere's Trusts Arena athletics stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.
She completed the sprint in 1 minute and 14.58 seconds as she thanked her supporters while receiving her 17th gold medal.
"I enjoyed it and am very, very happy," Kaur said after the race, according to the Telegraph.
Kaur began competing in athletic events eight years ago after she was encouraged by her 78-year-old son, who also competed in the Worlds Masters Games, and runs several short sprints every night.
She will also participate in the 200 meter sprint, javelin throw and shot put while in Auckland and said she has no plans to stop competing any time soon.
"I'm going to run again, I'm not going to give up. I will participate, there's no full stop," she said.
