March 22 (UPI) -- A police officer in Kentucky had a close encounter with a pregnant cow when the protective bovine charged him on a local road.

Hazard Police Department shared video of the large Texas longhorn as it chased Officer Elvin Hendrix down the road Monday night.

"There's never a dull moment around here," police said. Yes, that's a cow. Yes, it was chasing one of our officers.

Hendrix told WKYT the cow spotted him while he and another officer were responding to a report of a loose bull and quickly broke into a sprint.

"At first whenever it noticed me standing up there, it was galloping a little bit," he said. Then it kind of stopped and lowered its head and charged at me.

The cow's owner, Scott Williams, responded to the Facebook video and informed officers the cow's name is Daisy and said he hoped to have her captured within a few days.

"She only acts like that when she feel cornered. Under that big set of horns she's just a big pregnant baby. Thank you guys for sending her back my way though," Williams said.
