NEW YORK (UPI) -- A New York subway rider captured the moment two passengers who were formerly strangers shared a toast after finding a bottle of wine under their seat.

Colleen Hagerty tweeted a photo showing a suit-wearing man on the No. 6 train holding up the bottle, which she said appeared to be either champagne or sparking wine, and the other holding up a formerly-empty liquor bottle the man in the suit had filled with wine for him.

"A full bottle of wine just rolled out from under a subway seat and now these 2 strangers popped it open & are drinking it. This is peak NYC," Hagerty tweeted.

A friend of Hagerty who was also present during the Saturday night incident offered more details on Reddit.

"The bottle did, legitimately, roll out from under the seat. The man in the suit, confused, picked it up and proceeded to pop it. He offered some to the man next to him who grabbed an empty Hennessy bottle from under his seat (not sure if it was his) and the man in the suit poured him some wine into the Hennessy bottle and they cheers'd. It was hysterical," the post said.

Hagerty confirmed the liquor bottle was an empty that had been pulled from under the man's seat.

"So the real lesson here is always look under you subway seat and New York City is the best," Hagerty wrote.
