PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (UPI) -- A Florida hotel attained viral fame with a video showing its method of waking up sleepy spring breakers -- blasting "The Circle of Life" from The Lion King.

Video footage that went viral on social media Wednesday shows young tourists at the Holiday Inn Resort in Panama City Beach coming out to the balconies of their rooms to sing along to the opening number from the 1994 Disney animated movie.

Philip Corvin, marketing director for the hotel, said the facility's DJ thought it would be fun to play the song as an 11 a.m. wake-up call during spring break in 2012 and the choice proved popular with guests.

"The morning that he did it that he had more kids out on the balconies and more kids that came up to him afterwards and said dude you gotta do that again that was awesome," Corvin told WJGH-TV.

"It was a song that worked real well as a wake up call because of the loud beat in it and it also works real well because of the message of the song. It fits with the kids and the mood and what they're going through right now," Corvin said.

The song has become a spring break tradition at the hotel.

"It's the best thing ever. Every morning when we wake up we look forward to it it's like an entire Panama City Beach Holiday Inn family just singing together," spring breaker Jessica Young said.
