EERIE, Ind. (UPI) -- Some social media users are saying that a YouTube video showing a young man appearing to be kicked in the head by a train conductor while taking a selfie is a hoax.

Real or not, it still looks painful.

Never take a selfie infront of a train driver. http://t.co/LkCa3Gj8pW pic.twitter.com/31Sk6djvMz— Khabir (@KhabirM) April 16, 2014

In Jared Michael's "Kicked in the head by a train" video, he can be seen in front of a moving train before a fast-moving foot enters the frame and boots him in the left side of the face.

"I tried to take a selfie while a train passed a 'safe' distance behind," Michael wrote on YouTube. I guess I was still too close and got kicked in the head. I messed up.

The video has already received almost 23,000 views, but some people think it's just too good to be true.

Train selfie takes place in the ABC studios. Kimmel is the conductor— Cooper Fleishman (@_Cooper) April 16, 2014

Imma go ahead and guess this selfie-taker-kicked-by-speeding-train isn't real. For starters, if he was taking a photo, where's video from?— Caitlin Dewey (@caitlindewey) April 16, 2014
