DALLAS (UPI) -- Guinness World Records confirmed a Texas cheerleader set a world record by performing 35 consecutive handsprings.

Miranda Ferguson, 16, a junior at the Hockaday School in Dallas, beat the record of 32 handsprings Friday night while two Guinness adjudicators counted along and verified the feat, KDFW-TV, Dallas/Fort Worth, reported Wednesday.

Ferguson said a friend suggested she make an attempt for the record after she managed 20 handsprings in a row at a game last year. She said she was able to match the record during a recent practice and she hit 35 Friday night at the St. Mark's School of Texas game against the Oakridge School.

"Really just the fans out there really helped me get through it," she said.
