DEAR STACY: I heard that they're making a new version of "Magnum, P.I." Please tell me Tom Selleck is involved! That was my favorite show back in the '80s. -- Jennifer S., Valencia, California
DEAR JENNIFER: Sorry, but no, Selleck is not part of CBS's planned "Magnum, P.I." reboot. Jay Hernandez of "Suicide Squad," "Bad Moms" and "Bright" is set to portray Navy SEAL turned private eye Tomas Magnum in the pilot that's in the works at the network. Selleck, of course, is still starring in CBS's "Blue Bloods." He'll be a tough act to follow.
DEAR STACY: A status update, please, on the "Batgirl" movie. -- Bonbon98
DEAR Bonbon98: Filmmaker/TV producer Joss Whedon ("Buffy, the Vampire Slayer," "Firefly," "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.") planned to make "Batgirl" for DC Comics at Warner Bros., but bowed out of the project last month citing his difficulty in coming up with a story. He issued a statement thanking executives for their understanding "when I... uh, is there a sexier word for 'failed'?" So it's back to the drawing board, and perhaps a woman will take the helm. The studio is reportedly interested in getting more female directors on board, especially with femme-centric projects. And why not? They had a giant success with "Wonder Woman" and have a sequel on the way next year with star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins returning.
