A couple of minor pieces and a pawn can give a queen quite a run for its money. White has several ways to win. What is the most precise way?


Solution:

The most precise win is:

1.c7+ Kxc7 [1...Kd7 2.c8Q+ Kd6 3.Qc6#; 1...Qxc7 2.Ba5 Qxa5 3.Nc6+ Kc7 4.Nxa5] 2.Bf4 Qxf4 3.Nd5+ Kd6 4.Nxf4 Ke5 5.Kg6 Kxf4 6.Kxf6>B? and White can't be stopped from queening the pawn and mating shortly. The geometry of the several knight forks brought on by the bishop is quite pleasing in this study by Bone.
