Black to Play

Published in Chess Puzzles

Here’s a position that resulted from a wild game. In the diagram, White is threatening mate in one, but Black can mate in three moves!

It’s all about figuring out how to cover the white king’s flight squares. Nonetheless, it is a dazzling display: 1...Qd1+ 2.Rxd1 Ne2+ 3.Bxe2 Nb3# A lot of action packed into three moves!
