Here’s a mate in 4 that is unusual in that the final mating position is actually on the board! You just have to figure out how to make that bishop sitting on h1 the mating piece from that square.


This is also an excellent example of looking at the “extra” pieces and pawns on the board and figuring out why exactly they HAVE to be on the board for this problem to work 1.Kd1 b3 2.Bd2 exd2 3.e4 b6 4.e5#
