Either 1.f6 or 1.g6 win, but which one is better?

In annotating his own game, Botvinnik-Ravinsky, 1944, Botvinnik was not happy that he missed the quicker win. He played 1.f6 and it took him 126 moves to win the game! < 1.g6+ Kg8 [1...Kh8 2.f6 Qxf6 (2...gxf6 3.Qb7 Qg8 4.Kh6 Qf8+ 5.g7+) 3.Qe8+ Qf8 4.Qxf8#]2.Qe6+ Kh8 3.f6 gxf6 4.Qd7 Qg7 5.Qd8+ Qg8 6.Qxf6+ Qg7 7.Kg5 Qxf6+ 8.Kxf6 Kg8 9.g7 a5 10.bxa5 b4 11.a6 b3 12.a7 b2 13.a8Q+ Kh7 14.Qh8# >
