Swedish chess challenge number 8 is in front of you because we are skipping 7! We will skip one more next week so we can finish up the bronze level next week and move on to the SILVER level!


The key to this endgame is knowing when to sacrifice—a really good concept to remember. 1.Kd5 Kc8 2.c7 Kxc7 3.Ke6 Kc8 4.Kd6 Kb7 5.Kd7 Kb8 6.Kc6 Ka7 7.Kc7 Ka8 8.Kxb6 Kb8 9.Ka6 Kc7 [9...Ka8 10.b6 Kb8 11.b7] 10.b6+ Kc8 11.Ka7 and the pawn queens.
