Swedish chess challenge number 6 is another easy one for the intermediate player. For those itching for more challenging ones, they’re coming! I hope everybody gets all 12 “bronze” challenge problems because the silver level will make everyone earn it!


Only one move wins. You have to paralyze Black’s queenside pawns first. 1.a5 Ke7 2.Ke5 Kd7 3.f5 Ke7 4.f6+ Kf7 5.Kf5 Kf8 6.Ke6 Ke8 7.f7+ Kf8 8.Kf6 b5 9.axb6 and the pawn queens and mates. The “stalemated” Black king just watches helplessly by.
