The U.S. Women’s championship was won by Sabina Foisor in stunning fashion from the following position against Apurva Irkud in the last round. You don’t have a clock ticking or a championship on the line. See how you do!

Solution:

1...Qxg1+!! 2.Kxg1 Re1+ 3.Bf1 Rfxf1+! [Winning, but not mating is 3...Bh3 4.Qd8+ Kh7 5.Qxf6 gxf6 6.Rf2 Rxb1; The right rook. Black's task is much harder after 3...Rexf1+ 4.Kg2 Rxb1 5.dxc5 Nc6] 4.Kg2 Rg1+ 5.Kf2 Ref1+ 6.Ke3 Rf3+ [and White resigned seeing that it's mate after]7.Ke2 [7.Ke4 Re1+ 8.Re2 Rxe2#] 7...Rf5+ 8.Ke3 Re1+ 9.Re2 Rxe2# Wow! Perhaps the greatest finish ever to a US championship.
