Here’s an oldie from 1888 between Berger and Frohlich. Neither one seems to have a handle on how to open a game, but Berger suddenly ends the game with a few quick blows. Can you see what happened?


- Solution: The moves leading up to the diagram were: 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Nf3 d6 4.Bb5 Bg4 5.Nd5 Nge7 6.c3 a6 7.Ba4 b5 8.Bb3 Na5 (see diagram because now--) 9.Nxe5 Bxd1 [Less greedy but still losing was: 9...dxe5 10.Qxg4]10.Nf6+ gxf6 11.Bxf7#
