Some of you may recognize this position from the Fischer-Spassky return match in 1992. Can you match Fischer’s mating continuation here? Remember: don’t just give the quickie Black cooperating mating line.

Solution:

The use of the pawns to give themselves up in a clearance maneuver to open the h-file is great: 1.Rg8+ Kxh7 [1...Rxg8 2.hxg8Q+ Rxg8 3.Qxg8#] 2.Rg7+ Kh8 3.h7 and Black Resigned because of: 3...Qh6 [3...Rbd8 4.Rg8+ Kxh7 5.Rh1+ Bh3 6.Rxh3+ Qh6 7.Qg7#] 4.Rg8+ Kxh7 5.Rg7+ Kh8 6.Qg5 Qxg5 7.R7xg5 Bf5 8.Rxf5 Kh7 9.Rh5#
