Take out a stopwatch! I played this finish in a five minute game on the ICC and had 51 seconds left in the given position. Thirty seconds later, my opponent resigned. Can you match that by finding the winning continuation in 30 seconds? Don’t forget, Black will offer to trade queens at every opportunity.


Solution:

1.Qg4+ Qe6 [Black loses his queen after 1...Rd7 2.Rxd7 Qxd7 3.Rb8+ Kxb8 (3...Kc7 4.Rb7+) 4.Qxd7] 2.Qf3 Qc6 3.Qf5+ Qe6 4.Qb1 and it’s either mate or giving up the queen, so Black resigned.
