Television Q&A: When will 'Will Trent' return to ABC's lineup?

You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: I have seen nothing about the return of “Will Trent” to the fall programming. Will it be back?

A: ABC has ordered a third season of the drama starring Ramon Rodriguez and based on the novels by Karin Slaughter. But it did not include it in the network’s fall plans. Instead, it is due at midseason, which likely means early 2025. For now, you can see the first two seasons on Hulu.

Q: I’m a great fan of “The Amazing Race” and I first watch “Survivor,” then “Race,” and it completes my night. Why does CBS now have “The Summit” on instead of "Race"? It’s boring and not something that I want to watch. When will “The Amazing Race” return?

A: All I can say about “The Summit” is that someone at CBS thought people would like it — and it is something new for fans of reality competition series. As for “Amazing Race,” as good as it can be, I’m not crazy about the 90-minute episodes, which have felt padded. But that’s how the show will be when it comes back in 2025 for its 37th season. And host Phil Keoghan told GoldDerby.com that the new season will have “some things that come [out] of left field for the contestants and I think the viewers will find it fun. Not necessarily new twists but just surprises.”

Q: Is there a film version of Neil Simon’s “Last of the Red Hot Lovers”? If so, where can I find it?

A: That Simon play was adapted for the movies in 1972, with Alan Arkin starring and a script by Simon. It does not rank high among Simon’s work — and one critic said the original play has not aged well. Still, online services with it include Fandango at Home, Prime Video and Apple TV, with rental fees of about $4 and a purchase price of about $10. There has also been a DVD release.

Q: About a year ago I read that a third season of “Bosch: Legacy” was going into production. I haven't seen anything about it since. Do you have anything new?

A: “Legacy” is due back in March 2025, on Freevee and Prime Video. Michael Connelly, whose books inspired the original “Bosch” series for seven seasons and its sequel “Legacy,” said on Instagram that “I think [the new season] is our best yet. It will also be the last season, bringing to a fitting close a 10 season run with this character, played so well by Titus Welliver. But fear not, we are currently in production on the Renée Ballard show.” Ballard, another regular in Connelly's books, will be played by Maggie Q on TV. And, Connelly added, “If you know anything about my books, then you know you have not seen the last of Harry Bosch!”

Q: Will “Stranger Things” return for a final season, or is it done?

A: The Netflix series will be back for a fifth and final run in — you guessed it — 2025. “Some big reveals” are promised, and the cast will include “Terminator” icon Linda Hamilton as a mysterious new character. You can read more about all this at netflix.com/tudum/stranger-things.
