Anne Heche remains in a coma, with severe burns over her body. Last week, her Mini Cooper was involved in a fiery Los Angeles car crash. She also crashed into an apartment garage door beforehand. No one else was injured. I have met Heche over the years. The thing I remember most was when she was on a press tour for a Harrison Ford movie. She had Ellen DeGeneres in tow. DeGeneres sat in the back room beaming. I had interviewed DeGeneres on a press tour. She was mean to me. I had never had that happen to me before or since. People have been disinterested, bored, wanting it to be over, but never mean. Wait, Rosie O'Donnell was pretty awful, too. She made fun of my market until she learned her show was running there.
I have a list of doll babies. Keanu Reeves: open and friendly. Dustin Hoffman: I had just had a cornea transplant. He asked all about it. They never ask anything about you. Val Kilmer: I am a slob; he fixed my blouse. Ditto, Jamie Lee Curtis. Tom Selleck: a sweetheart. And there's some others.
Back to Heche: Her real life has been more troubled and chaotic than the twins she played on "Another World."
Her father was a Baptist minister. He beat her. He was gay and died from AIDS. About that time, she hooked up with Steve Martin for a few years. She married twice and had two sons. She had said on her podcast that aired the day of the crash that she was having one of the worst days of her life. She did not say why. She had been guzzling vodka. Full disclosure, I have major issues with people who drink and drive. You want to drink, that's on you. You want to drive while you are doing it, that's on some innocent person.
I have been glued to Scott Peterson as he tries for a new trial. Peterson was convicted of killing his wife, Laci, and their unborn child. The reason appears to be because he was having an affair. The reason for a new trial bid? A juror called Strawberry Shortcake contacted him, talked to People magazine and for some reason made it the centerpiece of her life. Most pundits doubt a retrial is coming.
I am so loving the Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) twist on "General Hospital." Is Cody his son? More importantly, it deals with the tragedies the character has dealt with in 45 years. Cannot wait to see what Liesl does.
