Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., started an ugly shouting match over abortion with Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., on the steps of the Capitol, yelling that she should “try being a Christian.”
The right-wing firebrand interrupted Dingell and several other Democratic lawmakers who are in favor of abortion rights as they tried to discuss the vote in the House of Representatives that would codify the right to abortion.
“What about unborn women? Don’t they have a right to life?” Greene yelled at her colleagues. “Killing babies right up until birth, are you serious?
“You should all be ashamed!” Greene added.
That sparked an angry back and forth that raged as the other lawmakers watched along with reporters gathered for what was supposed to be a routine press conference.
The House in a 218-211 vote passed the law that would effectively outlaw strict abortion bans such as the one recently enacted by Texas.
But Dingell wasn’t taking the abuse quietly.
“You should be ashamed of your incivility,” the Democrat from Michigan told Greene.
That set Greene off into a new fit of rage.
“You know what? Killing a baby up until birth is a lack of civility. It’s called murder,” Green shouted back.
“You should practice the basic thing you’re taught in church: Respect your neighbor,” Dingell responded.
“Try being a Christian and supporting life!” Greene hit back.
The staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, Greene accosted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in May on the House floor and challenged her to a debate on the Green New Deal plan.
Greene followed her ideological opposite through the halls of the Congress badgering her to agree to a one-on-one smackdown.
