(UPI) Several well-dressed dogs and their owners attended a black-tie gala to raise funds for an animal rescue group.

Humane Rescue Alliance's Bark Ball event in Washington D.C. raised $690,000 for the animal rescue group as "movers and shakers" in the area including politicians and sports figures gathered with their dapper pups.

"The Bark Ball draws many of the area's most illustrious residents and their four-legged friends, all in honor of the programs and services of the Humane Rescue Alliance," the rescue group said. The guest list always includes leading figures from the political, media, entertainment, sports, and business worlds.

The 2017 Bark Ball, which was the 30th annual event, featured a masquerade theme which had the canine guests dressed in elaborate masks.

In addition to the black-tie gala the event featured a silent auction, dinner, dancing and "special surprises" for guests.
