CARROLLTON, Texas (UPI) -- A Texas police department shared a photo of a "tough pup" recovering after it was found suffering from a heroin overdose in its owners' truck.

The Carrollton Police Department said in a Facebook post the young dog was found suffering from a heroin overdose on the floorboard of his owners' truck in a Home Depot parking lot "while its humans were busy inside switching price tags."

The canine was taken to North Texas Emergency Pet Clinic, where Dr. Stacie Fowler and her staff treated the puppy for a drug overdose.

"Humans were arrested for heroin possession and for fraudulent destruction, removal, or concealment of writing. Puppy is on way to full recovery from opiate overdose and is back in the care of The City of Carrollton Animal Adoption Center," the post said.
