Students collect 1 million pennies
KSAT-TV in San Antonio reported the students at Navarro Intermediate School raised more than $10,000 in pennies. The money was donated to the Guadalupe County Children's Advocacy Center.
"It feels good to be able to help kids who have been abused," fifth-grader Kellan Berry said. "To help them out so they can get clothes."
The children's advocacy center provides a homelike environment to abused children. The center's Paul Marsh praised the students' act of kindness.
"I think it's a true example of the love of mankind," Marsh said. "Not only to the advocacy center, but to society as a whole."
