Police: Grandma left kids in car at casino
Investigators said Jeanne Shahan left the children, a 14-year-old-boy and a 2-year-old girl, in her car with the windows rolled up for at least an hour and 15 minutes while she gambled at the Mardi Gras Casino, WFOR-TV, Fort lauderdale, Fla., reported Wednesday.
"The children seem fine," said Daniel Adkins, a representative from the Mardi Gras Casino. "We brought them inside and they both cooperated, gave us the name of who they were here with and we were able to locate the grandmother."
Shahan was charged with two counts of aggravated child neglect.
Authorities did not say into whose custody the children were released.

I actually think that grandma was wrong here--minors are not allowed into casinos, therefore, regardless of whether the air was on, the doors locked, they had food, whatever, it is still neglect and grandma was in the wrong here. I am with KlondikeKitty in that if grandma has enough money to go gamble, grandma has obviously enough money to get a sitter and leave the kids home. The woman is obviously a few bricks shy of a full load.

Fort Lauderdale is a fairly large city, these kids could've been kidnapped, shot or sexually molested while grandma is inside playing the slots -- If you're gonna go gambling or any other place where children aren't allowed, get a babysitter!! If you can afford to gamble, you can afford to get a babysitter to watch them!

Hey, was the car on? Maybe she left the AC on and thus the windows were rolled up. Shoot, there were many times I begged my mom to do that for me instead of having to go into the store with her.
