It was one of the last hits by the Beatles, and
their biggest, maybe their longest recording of a single song (7 min. +) also.
I don't know about 1968, I thought it way #1 1st
week of May, 1970, the week after it was announced they had broken up (George Harrison) had a single and album released that summer, 1st.
