: Following the Wreath-Laying Ceremony and concert, the National Memorial Day Parade commences at 2 p.m. at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street NW, and continues down Constitution Avenue, passing the White House and finishing at Constitution Avenue and 17th Street NW. The perimeters of the parade route are packed with observers, so get there early to claim a spot from which you can see the marchers and Miss America 2011, Teresa Scanlon. This year the parade is intended to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11, and honor those who’ve served in the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
Other Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremonies take place throughout Washington on Monday, May 27, at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, World War II Memorial, Air Force Memorial and President Lincoln’s Cottage’s Soldiers’ Home.
