Celebrity Travel: Go Away With Page Kennedy

By Jae-Ha Kim, Tribune Content Agency on

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Page Kennedy is based out of Los Angeles these days, though he has spent a good chunk of time filming in Canada. "I really like Canada," says Kennedy, 38. "I was most recently in Vancouver in the summer filming 'Backstrom.' There's so much to do. They had the Shakespeare Festival, which was a lot of fun. The water was beautiful and the architecture was really pretty. You don't see buildings like that in Los Angeles."

Fans may keep updated on Kennedy's career via his website (http://pagekennedy.com) and Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/pagekennedy).

Q. What is your favorite vacation destination?

A. The best place I've probably been to is Montreal. I filmed there a few years ago in the summer. That was the most fun place I've been to. Every weekend there was some kind of festival -- comedy, music, theater -- or something going on.

Q. Did you learn to speak French while there?

A. I picked up a few words here and there. But since they spoke French and English, I got lazy. I can tell you how to say some colors in French. (Laughs)

Q. Have you filmed in a place that wasn't so nice?

A. Filming in Vancouver in the winter! (Laughs) It was not so nice, because of all the rain and grey. I was taking a lot of public transportation and it wasn't fun.

Q. Detroit gets a bad rap, with people saying there's not a lot to do...

A. They would be correct. (Laughs) But then I would quickly add that there are some interesting things you could do. They have casinos now. And when I go there, I binge eat at American Coney Island. They don't have those in L.A. I eat nonstop there every day and gain tons of pounds. I get the same fries with cheese all the time -- French fries smothered in chili with slices of melted cheese.
