Q. What is your favorite vacation destination?

A. I love South America and Mexico City. I loved Cuzco, Peru. I spent time there before I hiked Machu Picchu. A city that took me by surprise last year when we were on tour, was the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. We played this amazing festival called Noorderzon that combines theater, arts and music around this beautiful lake in the center of town. It was an incredible city, specifically geared for biking. I could have lived there, and I rarely feel that while traveling.

Q. What was the first trip you took as a child?

A. My parents took my brother and me to London and Portugal when we were young. It was a wonderful experience. I remember going to the Globe Theatre in London and the color of the water in Portugal.

Q. What's the most important thing you've learned from your travels?

A. Traveling makes me much more aware of how special each culture's eccentricities are, and helps me remember to be welcoming to foreigners I may encounter in my hometown. We all have so much in common, despite our wide and wonderful cultural differences.

Q. Where are your favorite weekend getaways?

A. Big Bear. It has snow and hot springs.

Q. Where have you traveled to that most reminded you of home?
