And for Brazil soccer fans throughout South Florida, that news couldn't be more exciting to hear.
The Brazilian Soccer Federation announced Tuesday that Neymar, along with teammates Hulk, Oscar and Davis Luiz, will be on the Brazil roster for its Sept. 5 match against Colombia at Sun Life Stadium as part of the Gillette Brazil Global Tour.
Those four players, along with Fernandinho and Luiz Gustavo, return from the team's World Cup starting lineup.
It will be Neymar's first match for the Brazilian national team since fracturing a vertebra in the World Cup quarterfinals against Colombia.
Chelsea's duo of Ramires and Willian and back-up goalkeeper Jefferson will also make the trip to Miami against Colombia, but Marcelo, Dani Alves and Paulinho were part of the 22-man roster by new Brazilian coach Dunga.
Neymar, 22, returned the pitch on Monday for the first time in the final preseason match for Barcelona. He had two goals and an assist during a 6-0 victory over Mexican side Leon.
At the 2014 World Cup, Neymar scored four goals before his injury that forced him to miss the rest of the tournament. Still he received the Bronze Boot as the tournament's third top goal scorer and was named in the World Cup All Star XI.
With 35 goals in 52 matches for Brazil, he is the sixth highest goal scorer for his national team. In 2012 and 2013, SportsPro named him the most marketable athlete in the world. Last December, Neymar was ranked by as the sixth best player in the world by The Guardian.
Brazil returns to South Florida for the first time since defeating Honduras 5-0 in front of 71,124 fans at Sun Life in November. That attendance for a soccer match in the state of Florida surpassed the previous high of 70,080 that saw FC Barcelona play C.D. Guadalajara in August 2011 also at Sun Life Stadium.
