DeAndre Yedlin is heading to North London -- but will remain a Seattle Sounder through at least the rest of this MLS season.
The Sounders have agreed to sell Yedlin to Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League, with Yedlin staying in Seattle through the rest of the 2014 MLS season, the club announced Wednesday in a release.
"We are extremely proud of what DeAndre has accomplished in his young professional career," Sounders owner and general manager Adrian Hanauer said. "DeAndre is and always will be a special member of the Sounders FC family, and we are excited to have him in Seattle for the remainder of the season."
Yedlin has signed a four-year deal with Tottenham and will join the club before the 2015 EPL season, according to the Spurs' website. ESPN's Taylor Twellman is reporting that the deal is worth $4 million.
Yedlin made his debut with the Sounders' senior team last season. But a standout performance at this summer's World Cup resulted in the 21-year-old Seattle native being linked with Roma of Italy before Tottenham's interest gathered momentum in recent days.
"I'm very excited to come to the Premier League and challenge myself against some of the best players in the world," Yedlin said in a release from Spurs.
