NHL: Columbus 4, Dallas 1

DALLAS (UPI) -- Steve Mason returned to his typical form by making 25 saves Thursday and Columbus scored twice in each of the first two periods to defeat Dallas 4-1.

Mason was sensational during his rookie season last year and led the Blue Jackets to their first playoff appearance. He has struggled this season and gave up eight goals to Detroit last Wednesday.

After sitting out two games, Mason was again solid Thursday in helping the Blue Jackets win for the fifth time in six games.

Kristian Huselius scored twice, his first goal coming shorthanded with just 1 second remaining in the first period. Raffi Torres also scored for Columbus after being activated from injured reserve prior to the game.

Marty Turco gave up all four goals on 28 shots and lost to Columbus for just the second time in 17 career meetings.
