NHL: Vancouver 4, New York Rangers 1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (UPI) -- Two goals by Mikael Samuelson carried the Vancouver Canucks past the New York Rangers 4-1 Tuesday in a game marred by five misconduct penalties.

The game was delayed for nearly 10 minutes in the third period when Vancouver's Ryan Kesler and New York's Marian Gaborik squared off in a fight that turned into a major scrum. A total of 19 penalties were called in the game, including a game misconduct given to the Rangers' Dane Byers.

Kesler finished with three assists. Andrew Raycroft made 22 saves for the Canucks and Henrik Sedin and Rick Rypien had Vancouver's other two goals.

Samuelson scored the game's first goal late in the first period and added the other on a power play with 5:47 left in the game to make it 3-1.

Chris Higgins scored the Rangers' lone goal and Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves.

Vancouver outshot New York 30-23 in the game and 12-5 in the third period, when the Canucks scored three goals.
